For  Field Walking; Metal Detecting; Geo - Physical surveys; and other practical research on private land.  This document only needs  to be signed once and will be kept on file.
 
I agree to the following:
 
1.     To only enter private land for research purposes. To only enter private land where specific permission has been granted by the owner/farmer or where, in the case of farmland, the farmer/owner has been previously informed that such research may be taking place and has raised no objection or agreed that permission is not necessary on each occasion.
 
2.    In the case of landscape research and other similar research to keep to the field boundaries and paths wherever possible.  In the case of  field walking or metal detecting to keep to the field boundaries except for the area of field to be walked with the traverse and stint method. In the case of small excavations on grass to extract metal detecting finds, replace soil in the order it was excavated and to replace the turf.
 
3.    To leave gates as they were found and not to disturb livestock or damage growing crops.  To leave cars parked on the road and not to block field gate access.
 
4.    To reveal all research findings to the main group and additionally offer information to other sub-groups as appropriate. To declare all field    walking and metal detecting finds. To abide by the law of the Treasure Act.  To refrain from unauthorized field walking or metal detecting on fields currently being walked by the Heritage Group.
 
5.     Not to undertake any of the above activities for personal financial gain.
 
6.    To behave and dress appropriately and to be responsible for one’s own safety.  To be responsible for accompanying children.
